Living off the grid. Never paying for electricity and rent again. This is the dream of many of our homebuilding families. We always recommend including a photovoltaic system. Clean electricity is definitely a great benefit—especially when it is self-generated.

Of course, adding a photovoltaic system increases the overall budget for your home construction project. In the long run, it pays off. But is that really the case?

What has been your experience? Are you truly living energy self-sufficient?

With our photovoltaic system provider, I pay 922 €/kWp excluding VAT and storage. I think it’s a good offer, but it took quite a bit of negotiation.

That sounds really good to me. How large is the system? Does that price include grid connection, scaffolding, and commissioning, or are you saving some costs there because it’s coordinated with the house construction?

The modules themselves will have a capacity of 9.3 kWp. Grid connection, commissioning and registration, installation, and scaffolding are included.

Congratulations! You got a really good price!

Maybe at first glance, but you still have to offset the inverter that is already integrated into the storage system. However, I’m not sure what size inverter is usually assumed to be appropriate.

Ah, that explains it! For a suitable inverter, I would estimate about 2000€. That puts you at around 1150€/kWp. Still good.
