ᐅ Which material is suitable for the garden fence of the first house?

This year, we plan to build our house, and since patience is not really our strong suit (okay, which I think is understandable, because we are fulfilling our lifelong dream), we have already talked today about the garden fence and, of course, the gate as well.

The fence should primarily be an eye-catcher in front of the house and also durable and low-maintenance. We are not worried about the costs... What matters is that the quality and value for money are right.

We appreciate any tips!

I would first find out what is allowed and what is not in your area. After that, you can consider whether to place something inanimate or living there.

Durable and low-maintenance, a hot-dip galvanized wrought iron fence is clearly the best choice. For the posts, something masonry-made from facing bricks might work well. That would be our first choice too. A beech hedge behind it fits particularly well aesthetically, but it would be too much work for me. Gabions are definitely not an option.

Nice L-shaped blocks.
These are explicitly mentioned in writing as restrictions in our development area. Of course, as exclusions (gabions too, thankfully).

I find gabions attractive. And perhaps the person asking the question does as well?

Gabions... personally, I also find the appearance quite terrible.

As the other comments have already mentioned... what is built in the neighborhood, what is allowed... a bit more information wouldn’t hurt.
