Hello!

We have an open space of about 12 square meters (130 square feet) in the house and would like to combine comfort with functionality by installing a net similar to those used on catamarans (see picture). However, one of the long sides borders the conservatory, so the net cannot be attached there. We are considering a metal frame to which the net would be fastened, with the frame only screwed into the remaining opening area (timber frame construction).

Has anyone already done something like this? One company gave us only a standard response regarding mounting, and we are still waiting for a reply from another company. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you and best regards

Faydie

That doesn’t really help, but I’m totally torn about what to make of it. Somehow cool and unique, but also quite a gimmick (do people actually use this?). I’m definitely curious (ha!) to see how it turns out – feel free to keep us updated.

I would most likely not step on it at all. Even if it were glass, I still wouldn’t do it.
Besides, a net also swings, and my mind just can’t handle that.

If nobody were actually to fall, it wouldn’t be a problem; it would just be fall protection – which we need anyway. No one would be able to use the airspace with a railing in place either.

But an open space usually means having free vertical space across different floors without, for example, a visual barrier.

I really don’t understand how anyone can block off a nice open space with a dust-catching net. Most likely, people step onto it once, lie down, realize it’s boring, and then never use the net again.
