we are currently considering the height of the individual windows in our house. The ceiling on the ground floor is planned to be about 2.70m (8 ft 10 in) high. Standard windows usually start at around 90cm (35 inches) sill height and are about 125cm (49 inches) tall. With a 2.70m (8 ft 10 in) ceiling, there would still be more than half a meter of wall above the window. Should we simply plan for taller windows, or would that look odd from the outside? How tall are your (non-floor-to-ceiling) windows?

In the example above, I would recommend switching to a height of 1.385m (4 ft 6 3/4 in), and for floor-to-ceiling window units, 2.26m (7 ft 5 in). These heights allow enough space for roller shutters on top and are visually pleasing, as they match the room height.
