Hi,
I’m planning to buy a house where a sauna was installed in the bathroom in 2014. I do not want to keep the sauna.

Is it common for the sauna to be removed when the current owners move out? In other words, can I expect that the current homeowners will take their sauna with them?

If not, is it easy to remove such a sauna? Or should I anticipate that there might not be standard wall tiles behind or underneath it?

Think it over again ;-).

Clear answer: It depends! Was a standalone sauna cabin installed later on? Or was the sauna integrated into the bathroom from the beginning, basically built in permanently.

Buy the house, take a photo, advertise it for local pick-up on online classifieds ...

Negotiable! It seems this was added later. So there should be plaster and tiles underneath. What do you plan to do with the freed-up space?

Why don’t you ask the current owners? They should know whether they plan to take the sauna with them or not. They will also know what it looks like underneath and behind the sauna.
Is the sauna included in the listing? If so, it would initially belong to you after the purchase.

P.S. Think again about possibly keeping it :-)

Built-in elements such as the kitchen, fitted wardrobes, saunas, and gold-plated faucets are considered part of the house fixtures and are included in the purchase price unless otherwise agreed. This also applies to any subsequent installations. Before developing any expectations, it is important to communicate and negotiate with the other party.
