Hello everyone,

I’m from the beautiful Thuringia region, and we heat our apartment with oil. Recently, they handed out flyers from OilFox (.io) in our pedestrian zone. They also have a YouTube video—just search for OilFox.
It is a device that attaches to your oil tank and measures the oil level. When the tank is empty and the oil price is low, you can order more oil through the app. According to their website, this can save you up to 700 euros.

My question: is there anything similar already available? I haven’t found any comparable products online so far, although this one seems quite developed.

Best regards,

Since there have already been responses regarding the usefulness or rather the lack thereof of such a product, I did not delete the post.

Well, @nordanney, that’s one way to argue against all smart home devices.
@Musketier Yes, flyers were handed out. A girl gave one to me.

I know oil prices are quite low right now. But I’ve also forgotten before, and to put it mildly, that was pretty bad...
Well, I’ll take a look at the device. It will still take a while before it’s available. If anyone is interested, feel free to message me. I’ll be around here more often now because we’re currently outfitting our house with some smart technology.

How much does this HaiTek cost? A smart home can at least do a bit more than just checking the oil tank once a year. With a large tank, maybe only every two years.

In short: Totally useless!

Hello

I’ve heard that with a sufficiently large tank, you can save up to €7000.
That’s really impressive.
Is there something similar available for pellet bags?
In that case, I could save up to €300 annually, and the house would stay warm too.

@nordanney What exactly do you expect this device to do? Link with your smart home lighting so your house starts flashing when the oil tank is empty? Besides, the device measures continuously, not just once a year. It has a function, and it fulfills that purpose.

@wrobel The website states 700 euros, although I think that’s a bit overpriced. It depends on when you order. But I’d estimate it to be between 300 and 400. The bigger the tank, the greater the savings. I figure if I pay 100 euros less for my order than what I would have spent on manual monitoring and checking, the device has already paid for itself.

I have no idea about pellet stoves. According to the FAQ, it should be measurable, but I don’t think the device fits pellet tanks. You could try contacting the company.
