ᐅ How close to the property boundary can a wood storage rack be placed?

Hello,

In the next few days, I want to build a frame using guardrails as the base, steel posts, and trapezoidal sheets on top. This will be used to store 1m (3 ft 3 in) split firewood.

How close am I allowed to place this structure to the neighboring property boundary?

Asking the neighbor if it bothers them is difficult since the house is vacant and will soon be sold through a forced auction. New neighbors are expected to move in around spring.

Thank you.

There are two frames, 1.2m (4 feet) deep, 4m (13 feet) long, and about 1.8m (6 feet) high with the roof.
The guardrails are probably over the top, but people just used them back then since they got them for free.
They took it down the day before yesterday and will set it up here over the weekend.

There it is:
At 1.8m (6 feet) high and 4m (13 feet) long, this could potentially, or even very likely, bother me as a neighbor and I would give you quite some trouble.

Well, let’s hope that not too many people used to the height standards of Lower Saxony move to Bavaria.

I would say that traditional heating culture in rural Bavaria is like that.

So, the location is such that, in my opinion, it won’t bother the neighbor there. For us, it also provides good privacy screening.
I’ll just set them up now and see how practical it is to place them right on the property boundary. If the neighbor, once they move in, has any issues with it, hopefully they will be reasonable and let me know, and then we can surely find a solution together.

Thanks for your comments.

In Lower Saxony, privacy fences up to 1.8 meters (5 feet 11 inches) in height are allowed. In theory, you could install the privacy fence and build the frame directly behind it. So, in practice, there would be no difference.
No building permit / planning permission would be required.

This is in Bavaria.
And I definitely won’t put a privacy fence behind it if the frame itself already serves as a privacy screen.

I recorded both. The point is that it doesn’t really matter whether you set up the frame or a privacy screen with a height of 1.8 meters (6 feet). However, I’m not sure about the specific regulations in Bavaria. You can quickly look that up yourself.
