Hello everyone,
Since there have been some minor thefts in our residential area recently, we are looking for a video solution for our carport that should meet the following requirements:
- Wireless connectivity (Wi-Fi)
- Ideally, storage via built-in memory card
- Battery-powered operation (no power outlet available at the location)
- Recording triggered only by detected motion
I would especially be interested in personal experiences from other forum members – from my point of view, the market is quite overwhelming.
Additional info: we do not have a smart home system and do not intend to set one up. Since I professionally work a lot with smart systems in other fields, I specifically want to avoid this…
Thanks in advance for your insights!

How long can the camera operate without sunlight? I find that especially interesting during winter. I would like to install this one or the Trackmix at my in-laws’, who have similar technical conditions as you.I’ll let you know as soon as it stops for the first time – so far it’s been almost continuously at 100%.

That might not be an advantage. The recordings would be completely useless from the start, because the qualified transfer agent could simply tear the device off in the carport and take it with them. But there will definitely be an alarm beforehand (and it’s loud!) – and as a specialist in body shaping and tool handling, I definitely have enough time to calmly walk to the carport prepared, so don’t worry.

After recently dropping to 73% battery charge in really bad weather, it’s now back up to 91% today, for example.
My conclusion: it works. And I have already caught the neighbor twice going through our carport while we were on vacation — the second time I spoke to him through the intercom. Since then, he hasn’t come back. I probably scared him too much, the “bad guy” that I am.
