Hello, I hope someone here can help me or give a few tips. I bought a Scandinavian wooden house, about 16 years old. The windows are wooden and very warped; adjusting them no longer helps, and they would also need refurbishment, including paint and sealing. We want to have new windows installed and will have a window specialist visit this week. We are now considering installing synthetic windows with a wood-look finish, as they require less maintenance and also last longer. Has anyone had experience with this, or should we stick to installing wooden windows again?

Why are the existing windows no longer serviceable after just 16 years? Have the windows or the house warped?

So, a carpenter should take another look at them before they are thrown away. Unlikely that they are completely worn out after 16 years. Softwood windows typically last 50 years or more.
