we are considering which shower shelf would be practical for shampoo and similar items in a new build.
A shower niche is not possible (it would reduce the shower floor space and make the shower too small for us).
These shower baskets keep falling off ://
What alternatives are there for new builds that are also durable and visually appealing?
It should definitely be something sturdy and resistant, capable of holding a few kilograms.

There are countless high-quality accessory options, ranging from closed to open, rounded or angular, matte or glossy in chrome, coated plastic, or wire… all matching the style of the fixtures or similar.
They can be glued, screwed with plugs, or hung. There are also freestanding versions. However, as mentioned before, from about 80cm (31.5 inches) upwards, you probably need to lay them down.

I would still question why it shouldn’t be possible.
If necessary, just do it yourself... It doesn’t really matter. Shelves are not mandatory and also have some disadvantages, as mentioned above. Other options have their advantages.
There are stylish alternatives that also help avoid a bathroom made up only of flat, angular surfaces. For example, with a mounted shampoo holder, you can hang a washball, a long-handled brush, or other necessary items—something that doesn’t work with recessed niches. If you choose the right product, it can even be cleaned in the dishwasher 🙂
So why follow what is currently mainstream?
