Hello everyone, I am currently planning the assembly of an Ikea Besta furniture system and came across the question of which screws are best suited for the assembly. Ideally, the screws should not only hold securely from a mechanical standpoint but also fit the pre-drilled holes and connection points. I am particularly wondering whether it is better to use the original screws or if there are higher-quality alternatives among standard screws that might be more durable or stronger—for example, regarding material or thread type. Does anyone have experience and can recommend which screws work best for assembling the Besta system, ensuring everything is stable while still being easy to install?

Applying grease to the screws can indeed make screwing easier and reduce friction.

That’s correct, but especially with particleboard, it is important that the screw isn’t too loose. If lubricants are used, make sure to screw in evenly and retighten if necessary after a short time. I recommend using the appropriate Torx bits instead, which help ensure easy screwing.
