Hello everyone,

I am currently working on the electrical planning, specifically on the room thermostats.
There are many options available – I would be interested to know which room thermostats you use for water-based underfloor heating, what your experiences are with them, and if there are any recommendations.

Thank you and best regards from RT

Since the temperature is ultimately controlled by the heating system rather than the thermostats, it doesn’t really matter which thermostats you use. We only chose based on price – as long as they were affordable and compatible with our switch system.
So I can’t really tell you what was actually installed in the end.

A NEST in the living room.

More or less just decoration on the wall. After all, there is underfloor heating installed. Energy saving by room thermostat is irrelevant, since in a modern house with underfloor heating it works without a bimetallic strip inside a plastic housing on the wall.

We also bought some cheap parts that just look like something.
If I had dealt with this topic earlier, I would have gotten an exemption and we wouldn’t have any now.

I have also disabled most of the actuators in our house and set the radiator thermostatic valves (RTVs) in the rooms to 0, so that no power flows anymore. Is there any meaningful alternative to put instead of the RTVs? Like a digital photo frame or something?

For example, simply using an LCD thermometer allows you to always see the current temperature.
