Hello,

Do you have any shrubs in your garden that you particularly like because they have beautiful blooms, attractive foliage color, a nice growth habit, etc.? Can you recommend something that also grows relatively dense near the base?

Best regards,
Sabine

There was already a discussion where many shrubs were mentioned. I wanted to remember it back then (about a year ago?) and it’s about time to look it up, since we will probably be able to plant in the autumn. :-)

Here it was: https://www.hausbau-forum.de/threads/welche-hecke-eignet-dich-als-sichtschutz.24602/page-4?_params=Array

My favorite at my parents’ place is the weigela. I really like the deutzia, as well as various types of spirea. Have a look through Bieber’s list; I will probably use it extensively ;-)

I can’t believe I’m still seeing this *blushing*

I’ve added a few more nice examples, https://www.hausbau-forum.de/threads/welche-hecke-eignet-dich-als-sichtschutz.24602/. There’s just so much to choose from...

Thank you, I will look up all the ornamental shrubs online. If anyone has more ideas or pictures, please feel free to share them. It is always difficult to choose something at the garden center when there is only a small plant with a few branches, and you cannot see how it will look later on. Many shrubs also grow quite tall and then the lowest two meters (6.5 feet) end up bare.

Best regards,
Sabine
