ᐅ What is this metal sheet on the roof, and is it damaged?

Hello,

I just noticed today that a metal sheet is lying on the dormer of my roof. I took a photo but cannot figure out what the purpose of this sheet is or if I need a roofer to repair it. Maybe someone in the forum can tell me what this is and whether there is any damage.

This should be looked at more closely.

Serious accidents often happen when DIY enthusiasts climb onto the roof.

I would guess it is a marten entrance.
