Hello everyone,

We are currently building a timber frame house and are in the interior finishing stage.
Our painter has brought us plaster samples. It looks like we will go with a scratch coat plaster...
The finest grain size he has offered us is 1mm (0.04 inches). However, we would prefer an even finer finish. He now says this is not possible.
Has anyone here maybe worked with a finer scratch coat plaster?
Thank you very much for your help.

Unfortunately, you won’t find that.

So that means it really doesn’t exist?
But thanks for the feedback.

At least I don't know of any. 1mm (0.04 inches) is already very fine.

There is roller-applied plaster that is finer, but it has a different texture. The texture will disappear anyway after a few coats of paint.

Fine means about 0.3mm (0.01 inches). Sometimes there is also extra fine. In that case, you don't need decorative plaster. It's similar to paint.
