Hello everyone, I’m planning to upgrade my Ikea Besta furniture but find the standard fronts a bit boring and too commonly used. So my specific question is: What alternatives to the standard Ikea Besta fronts are available that are of good quality, easy to install, and possibly allow for a more personalized design? I have heard of third-party fronts but am unsure about the measurements and the quality of the workmanship. Looking forward to practical tips, experiences with suppliers, and also suggestions for DIY solutions. Thanks in advance!

DIY solutions with membranes are cheaper but less durable.

That’s true – does anyone have recommendations for especially durable membranes or specific adhesive techniques to ensure long-term effectiveness?

Have fronts made by local carpenters.

What is the approximate cost? I don’t have special dimensions, but I’m considering an unusual color scheme.

Regarding the question about films: I have had good experience with PVC films commonly used for cars – they are durable and scratch-resistant. It is important to prepare the surface very carefully beforehand. A tip: using adhesive techniques with a hot air gun makes it easier to apply the film without bubbles.

Regarding carpentry costs: prices vary widely, but for MDF fronts with paint, they usually range between 80 and 150 euros per front, depending on the features. If you want a more elaborate design, it might be somewhat more expensive. However, it is worth it because you get a unique piece.
