Hello everyone,

I recently purchased an Ikea Platsa wardrobe and am currently assembling it. Unfortunately, some of the original screws supplied with PLATSA are too short or don’t fit optimally for my version or for custom modifications/extensions I want to make using other wood components. Therefore, I’m looking for fastening options and alternatives to the Ikea PLATSA screws that are just as stable and reliable.

I’m interested in hearing which alternatives you have successfully used, what sizes and types of screws are recommended, and if there are any special features I should pay attention to in order to keep the wardrobe sturdy and the connections strong.

So, I’m looking for replacement/alternative screws that are compatible with or better than the original PLATSA screws—ideally regarding pre-drilled holes, thread type, and head design.

I look forward to your experiences and advice!

As a supplement: M4 countersunk screws, 30mm (1.2 inches) long, full thread, stainless steel are generally the best standard alternatives. Knock-in nuts are an option for modular extensions.

You can find suitable screws at the hardware store in the furniture section.
