Good day.

With my concealed installation valve (Hansa) for the bathtub faucet, water leaks slightly from the valve housing whenever water is drawn (whether cold or hot water)! It runs beneath the cover plate down to the edge of the bathtub.
The faucet is less than 1.5 years old (first installation in a new build).
When switching between the shower and the diverter spout, water also leaks from the concealed valve housing.
This problem does not occur with the concealed shower valve.

Is anyone familiar with this issue?
Could it possibly be the cartridge?
Or the pipe aerator?

Thank you very much for your help.

Hello, what does the plumber say? It’s still within the warranty period. I would be more concerned about water getting behind the tiles. Or was it installed by yourself?

Hello.
Thank you for your quick reply.
No, it was not self-installed (wife...). Initial installation when buying new about 1.5 years ago.
Yes, I’m counting on warranty, but I’m just curious what it could be... The plumber can tell me anything, since I’m a woman...
It could be that water has gotten under the bathtub or into the drywall installation. But I don’t think so, since water only leaks from the housing when water is being drawn. The water meter also doesn’t show anything unusual.

I thought this problem might be known.
Could it be the cartridge? Or the diverter? Or the air admittance valve?

For a woman, you sure know your stuff. Let him come and fix it. Or do you want to get into a technical discussion with him?

I looked up this topic online and found some information.
Of course, I will have the plumber come.
But I wanted to get some initial information here first.
He can explain everything to me on site anyway...

If you want to notice it at the water meter, the water would have to leak outside the house...

This is most likely (hopefully, because otherwise you have a SERIOUS problem) just the cartridge. These can sometimes be quite tricky. In our case, the plumber couldn’t get it sealed after three attempts. Only the manufacturer’s technician was able to install it correctly.

Make sure to have it checked quickly, and check whether water might have leaked somewhere inside.

I may be a bit cautious here because a concealed valve like this caused a major water damage in our home, but nowadays I wouldn’t install something like that again. A surface-mounted valve lets you see if something is wrong. With an in-wall (concealed) valve, you only notice when it’s too late and water starts leaking from cracks or gaps.

Best regards and good luck,

Andreas
