Hi everyone. We have a rather annoying problem at home that needs to be fixed every few months: water keeps backing up in the shower until I eventually have to use a pump to remove the nasty hair and debris from the drain. Once that's done, the water starts backing up heavily again after just a few weeks.
Do you have any suggestions on how to prevent this issue in the first place? I’m really not comfortable with my current method ;-) Thanks in advance for your tips and experiences.

From your description, we are not talking about a clogged drain grate, but rather a blockage in the pipe system behind it. This is likely due to faulty installation of the piping and cannot be easily resolved (missing ventilation, pipe diameter too large, incorrect slope, etc.).
In this case, the only real options are prevention or regular cleaning.

As I can see, it seems that men are usually the ones dealing with this, even though we are rarely the cause of the problem! :-) Anyway, thanks for the responses...
I’ve also noticed that many people use a drain strainer... the question is whether that doesn’t already cause the water to drain too slowly? Although it’s probably the best solution if you clean the shower almost daily from residues (especially hair) to prevent this issue from occurring in the first place...
