bowbow91Hello everyone,
I was considering installing flat roof windows since our living area is on the upper floor. Has anyone had experience with, for example, Velux flat roof windows? They are said to have rain noise reduction – is that noticeable in reality, or is it more of a marketing claim?
How about their watertightness?
Best regards

These are supposed to have rain noise reduction. There’s so much out there... 🤨 I would actually consider it a downside not to hear the rain. I can think of a hundred other noises I would prefer to be reduced. My focus would be on sun protection.

These are supposed to have rain noise reduction,I also find it surprising: You can hear rain even without double casement windows. Yes, with double casement windows, rain noise is also heard through the windows. I find that quite calming and pleasant. But it doesn't rain all the time.P
pagoni20206 Mar 2021 16:03We have a really large metal roof under the bedroom window, covering the neighbor’s storage area. Okay, twice a year there are some fighting cats there, but I would hear those from other places anyway. Rain has never been an issue at all, and we always sleep with the window open.
As I already mentioned, sun protection is really important. We have just experienced nearby how the heat inside changes before and after shading a relatively small skylight. That is definitely where I would invest.
