Hello,
At my house, which is currently under construction, there is a large window section on one side measuring approximately 3.30 meters (11 feet) wide and 5.50 meters (18 feet) high (according to the plans, see photo).
According to the thermal insulation requirements, some type of sun protection or privacy screen must be installed here as well. On the inside, there is no ceiling because it is a large gallery area. Do you have any suggestions on what kind of sun protection could be installed there? Roller shutters would be too large for the total area, a venetian blind would be too unstable and also too large in area? Zip screens could develop mold in damp conditions? I already thank you in advance.
Best regards

Hello,
that is quite a large window area.
Maybe large louver blinds (available from SonnenLichtManager, company War....) could be an option? Essentially a fixed Venetian blind that doesn’t raise or lower but still has adjustable slats. They are probably not going to be cheap, though.
“Standard” Venetian blinds should still be possible, however. A smaller pane will be added in the middle. If you order that one very dark or black, you could install another Venetian blind in front of it. So one blind for the large upper panes and a separate one for the lower.

What on earth made you decide to go for such a huge window front, and why are you only now thinking about controlling the expected overdose of sunlight (and why is it because of the "thermal protection certificate" – it’s not the certificate itself, but you’ll end up looking like a dried prune and wearing sunglasses all day long)?

Hello,
I only noticed on a second look that huge square panel next to it on the left, estimated to be about 2.80m x 2.80m (9 ft 2 in x 9 ft 2 in)!
What kind of shading will be installed there? What works at this width usually can span another half meter (about 1.5 ft) as well.

How about a sliding window shutter with adjustable louvers? Something like a barn door that slides open. Then it would disappear into a recessed section of the exterior wall when not in use.
Sorry, but who planned that? You don’t usually come up with something like that so late in the process. Nothing will work that easily. You might want to look at commercial construction to see how they handle this. Some have these attached metal structures. Of course, those are probably extremely expensive and it’s questionable whether they look good.
