Hello,

I received the construction drawings from our home builder and noticed that some measurements differ from the architect’s plans. Most of the time, the measurements are a few centimeters (inches) smaller.
Is this normal, or should I insist that the measurements from the architect’s plans be followed?

Best regards,
Jochen

Good morning Jochen,

before insisting on something, I would first question why it is that way.
Maybe there is a good reason 🙂

Maybe plaster, different stone widths?
Yes, you should at least clarify why – you don’t want additional problems to arise in the end... following the motto "now the staircase doesn’t fit here anymore."

And above all, check and clarify the areas where you require specific wall thicknesses, because you have already planned the interior layout based on them. Make sure to document these measurements in writing for those specific areas.

I plan to mark the relevant measurements and add the dimensions from the architect's drawing, requesting clarification. Then we will see what kind of response we get.

My question was primarily whether this happens frequently.

Whenever communication and knowledge management do not align. Often when sales are completely separate from service delivery.
