I found the report very well done, entertaining, and truthful. The examples are sad but a harsh reality.

Thanks to @ypg for the great recommendation!

I don't really care.

I almost believed you.
But the arrogant following paragraph makes me doubt that.
Because once again, this is not about you or your recommendation.

I have also looked into it. Yes, there are some unfortunate and, unfortunately, extreme cases. But you have to put this into perspective—complex projects like house construction, involving various trades, are unlikely to ever be completely free of defects. Some issues are simply due to carelessness. Take a house built too low, for example—there is already a site plan in the planning stage, which is part of the building permit/planning permission documents. That allows you to check how things will actually be before approving it.

And folks, let’s not forget that for most people, things run quite smoothly or at least tolerably well. You can’t expect much more during a construction boom.

Acceptable is always relative, isn’t it? At least most people can live in the house. However, due to the defects, many owners’ enjoyment is greatly diminished.

Well, first of all, there are much worse things than being a little lower than others. There’s no need to worry unnecessarily... but in our area, there are many houses and sections of roads that are roughly a meter lower. I have even been inside some of those houses, and the hallway was not flooded or anything like that 😉

On the other hand, it was a bit of a guess for us. Nobody really knew the final height of the finished road. So every neighbor gave us a wary smile because we were building “so low.” Now it turns out that we are nicely at ground level, while many others have around 50cm (20 inches) of clearance above flood level 🙂

I also found the post interesting... but I also like watching the building rescue shows. Simply because they help you lose the "rose-colored glasses" view on the topic and in some situations remind you that it’s better to ask again about certain issues, make sure to get this or that in writing, and so on.

Sure, for example, regarding the point about the house being lower and the homeowner saying that now the neighbors can look inside, I thought, "Well, if that’s the only problem, he should be glad not to live on a slope."

But honestly, there is no documentary that doesn’t have any flaws.
