Hello,
We are starting our house construction in 2 weeks, and since we don’t build a house every couple of years, my wife and I wanted to find out about the current customs regarding the upcoming Topping-Out Ceremony!
Does anyone here from the area have experience with this? What do I need to organize?
Best regards
The Mahnke family

Well, we’re really looking forward to it. If the builders don’t want to, then it will just be the joy, family, and neighbors.Exactly! But the topping out ceremony has to happen. And of course the celebration too, so the house "gets a soul." Naturally, the homeowners also have to drive in the nail "that holds the house together."Write a flyer and invite the long-term neighbors or, in a new development area, the other builders. Include us as well.
For us, it was on a Friday in the Harburg district in summer: drinks on consignment and chili con carne. In this weather, you need to cover the holes/window openings with plastic sheeting to keep the wind from getting too cold. Beer benches, music, beer, sparkling wine, and shots, maybe even a heat lamp or something similar. The guests will take care of everything else.
Have fun!

NatureSys14 Mar 2020 09:35For us, only one carpenter stayed for the topping-out ceremony, and no one stayed afterward. Otherwise, they would have topping-out ceremonies all the time.
We are postponing the whole thing for now. Also, I don't want anyone to have to use the portable toilet...
