Hello dear forum,

I am currently planning the tiles for our house and am more or less looking for inspiration as well as the do’s and don’ts in the world of tiles.
In general, I understand that different rooms have different requirements.
For example, in the bathroom, slip resistance and slip resistance rating are important, while in the hallway, the abrasion class is more relevant.

I would appreciate it if you could share your experiences and, ideally, pictures as well.

Thanks and best regards,
Daniel

Please don’t make a big deal out of it.
Abrasion class is almost irrelevant for private residential areas. It’s important in places with a lot of sand carried in on shoes, like restaurants, corridors, lobbies in public buildings, or possibly holiday apartments at the beach, but otherwise? It really doesn’t matter.

Slip resistance, yes, that is important and you can usually tell by looking at the tile. In tile stores, you can often see samples of tiled areas, which can give you an idea of how they look. Do you have a Harrys tile market nearby? Then just go there. Okay.

Yes, you are probably right. I always assumed tiles cost €25/m² (about $25/sq ft) or more. At Hornbach, even with these specifications, everything is in the range of €15-23/m² (about $15-23/sq ft)... but I don't know if they are any good.

No, I’m from North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), and unfortunately, we don’t have that store here.

Sure, it’s definitely useful stuff, but it’s often generic brand products, and once they’re all gone, you usually can’t get any more.

Harry is also in NRW, where he is called Fliesenmax.

What do you think about porcelain stoneware Wally Noce 35.5x71cm (14x28 inches), for example? It’s really affordable, and putting the appearance aside for a moment, I think it’s a real bargain.

Picture?
We also have porcelain stoneware on the ground. It’s okay, affordable, slip-resistant, and 21 per square meter. For the wall, a standard glazed 17.50 tile.
