I have the following problem and would like to hear your opinion on it.
Last year, we built a house and a garage. The carpenter worked on the roofs of both buildings. Originally, an intermediate roof between the house and the garage was planned back then.
For various reasons, not caused by him, this was postponed to this year.
At that time, we were very satisfied with the work on the house and garage. Deadlines were met, communication was excellent, everything was perfect.
He came by in August to discuss the roof. He took notes and left. The offer price was delayed because the company that is supposed to build the trussed roof had forgotten to process the inquiry.
So he contacted them again, and after two weeks the price came through. The total price was acceptable to us, and I said, let’s go ahead and do it now.
Four weeks later, I reached out to ask how things were progressing with the roof so we could start planning. He replied that he would get back to me the next day. Of course, that never happened.
The following week, I tried calling him, but only reached his voicemail. We were on autumn break at the time, so I didn’t pursue it further.
Then on Monday, I called again, and he ended the call. Okay, maybe it was a bad time and he would call back. I sent him a message asking him to just get in touch.
Nothing happened.
The next day I tried calling again, and he ended the call once more.
Now I’m not sure what to do. On one hand, I’m getting tired of chasing him, but on the other hand, I want the roof done. We’re talking about an order volume of nearly $10,000.
No idea what I’ve done wrong. I mean, he is also supposed to build my patio roof and do some work for my parents in the same town.
