A construction company recommended using a silicone resin render as the exterior finishing coat. The base layers would likely be aerated concrete and lightweight fiber render as the undercoat, followed by a topcoat of our choice. I had previously read that purely mineral renders tend to resist algae growth better, but the company argued that silicone resin render is significantly more durable and long-lasting. Additionally, since it is pigmented throughout, it maintains its appearance over time. They would also provide a mineral render with two coats of paint at a similar price if we prefer, but they recommend the silicone resin render. We are now uncertain—does anyone have experience or opinions on this?

Use a mineral premium scratch render, and you won’t need to paint or worry about algae.

Did you handle the plastered area that way? You need to make sure the plasterer has experience with this, right? What was the price or additional cost per square meter?

Official prices were around 8,000 to 10,000 for 70m² (750 sq ft) – but that was also due to the small area.

And yes, painters can't do that; a plasterer is needed.

9,000 EUR for 70 sqm (750 sq ft) is an incredible 128 EUR/sqm (12 USD/sq ft). Applying the finish coat is usually priced between 12-30 EUR per sqm (1-3 USD per sq ft) based on my research (depending on the plaster). You must be referring to the entire ETICS system including insulation, base coat with reinforcement, and finish coat with that 8-10k figure, right?

Regardless, do you know which plaster you have? WeberTop Edelkratzputz? Or from another manufacturer?

Axo, yes, that was the total cost for everything – including scaffolding and so on.

It was a small area anyway, so that is always more expensive.

The plaster is from Knauf.
