Hey,

I'm currently thinking about how to create a shelf in the shower. The shower will be 90x120cm (35x47 inches) with a long glass panel at the front and a short one on the left side. The back is the long wall, and the right side is the short wall. The shower valve will be on the short wall on the right. I’ve seen that Schlüter offers the Shelf WS, which can be integrated into the grout joint between the tiles. You could position shelves on two levels to the left of the valve. This way, you wouldn’t bump into them like you might if they were installed on the long wall, for example.

Does anyone have experience with this or maybe even has it installed, or perhaps other ideas to suggest?

Thanks!

That is the idea. Either two stacked vertically with a height dimension of 30cm (12 inches) or one on the left and one on the right of the fixture.

No, I won’t do that because these are my boys’ apartments, and sharing pictures from there would be intrusive.

I attached our shower shelf to the shower bar. (here’s a somewhat intrusive picture
However, it’s homemade and only partially made from purchased parts.
... and it only works because the shower bar is very sturdy.

Rusted metal shelf in the shower with showerhead, flexible shower hose, and cosmetic products.

Shower shelf in the shower with toothbrush, bottles, and showerhead.

Hmm. Honestly, I really like those pieces used to attach items between the tiles, and also the ones that can be fixed on the shower bar. But in our case, everyone—so five people in two different bathrooms—almost regularly bumps into these parts (similar, but not exactly the same), and everything falls over or drops down because there’s no fall protection planned for the bottles and such.

What other alternatives are there? I’m not really a fan of my hanging basket with a rim on the shower wall, but it’s practical. Things sometimes fall over, but not directly to the floor every time.

Do you shower differently than we do, or do you know this problem too?

Honestly:
Since the bottles are always placed behind the shower bar here, nothing really ever falls down… but there are only two of us, so that might make a difference.
