ᐅ Should the carport area be gravelled first or should the foundations be laid first?

Hello,
there seem to be some differing opinions on my question.
Would you first lay a gravel base and then later dig in the foundations? Or place the foundations first and then add the gravel base?

stefanc848 Sep 2017 20:27The utility connection hasn’t been installed yet [emoji51] But at least I asked beforehand whether the cables and pipes should be laid in first. The excavator operator said they would just push them aside again and dig the trench, no problem... I personally think it would make more sense the other way around, but it is what it is.
