Hello,

there seem to be some differing opinions on my question.
Would you first lay a gravel base and then later dig in the foundations? Or place the foundations first and then add the gravel base?

Best regards

Today, we laid the foundations/partial walls, and gravel will be added soon.

It depends on when the carport is supposed to be installed...

Next year. What does that mean for you?

To be honest, I forgot to tell the excavation contractor that they still need to be installed, and now everything has been covered with gravel ;-)
And now I'm wondering if that was a big mistake or if it doesn't really matter...

I rented a 350mm (14-inch) earth auger and, together with my girlfriend, drilled the foundations. Beforehand, we laid gravel and paved the area. It works great. Except if you hit something like we did with the utility connection cable.

Next year, then graveling and afterwards drilling, just like my predecessor said.
