Hello everyone,
we are currently looking for dining chairs and had almost found something suitable. There was nothing decent on classified ads in the last four weeks. Now we have our eye on the Silas chair with upholstery from the Danish furniture store and the New Oak table.
We were about to buy them, but the local store didn’t have the chair in stock, and I wanted to order it online – unfortunately, the table is not available online in 1.80 m (6 feet) length.
That would mean we probably have to visit the store again and place the order there.
Then I thought I’d take the opportunity to ask here if you might have any other recommendations.
We are not very happy with our Ikea chairs because the seat panel cannot be screwed in and many chairs have become wobbly by now – the black chairs also tend to leave marks if you bump into something.
Thanks for your feedback.

It was just one example, admittedly quite expensive.
You can get this type of chair for less than half that price (just without buffalo leather). Although, of course, I haven’t seen one at the price you mentioned for the "Silas" model. But you were only looking for alternatives, not necessarily cheaper options, right? Or did I misunderstand you?
Personally, by now I’m so tired of all the "discount store stuff" that I’d rather buy used quality items or, in your case, start with 2-3 chairs for the family than get frustrated with Ikea and similar stores again.

So today we visited a furniture store that was open on a Sunday for sales and found some nice cantilever chairs – unfortunately, I forgot their exact name – Bonatum/Bonaldo (?!) or something similar.
They had a customizable pattern for the backrest, and the connection to the seat was made of oak. Very, very comfortable – about €330 (~$350) per chair.
Does anyone have an idea which company this might be? They aren’t available in the furniture store’s online shop, of course -.-
If necessary, I’ll go back there again, but it’s quite far away...

Oh, the $339 for the buffalo leather was too expensive for the gentleman, so now he’s looking for some at $330.
When searching online, you can find "Bonaldo" as a manufacturer (or also Bontempi), but I didn’t find any dining chairs quickly. If in doubt, maybe just give them a call—they’ll probably be able to figure out the right options from your fragmented information.
Glad to hear you found something.

Well, we’ll see – it’s already over the planned budget.
But let’s see what’s left over from the house in the end. A bit of wood to make some furniture yourself? ;P
