Hello everyone,
This is about the Vindig extractor hood.
We are stuck on one assembly step.
It is step 23 on page 30 of the installation manual.
See the photo and the excerpt from the manual below.
According to the instructions, screw E is supposed to be screwed into the second opening (counting from the wall) of part B.
However, this opening does not align with the opening of part A, as you can see in the photo.
When both parts are pushed against the wall, the second opening in part B is much further from the wall than the opening in part A.
Both parts are mounted flush to the wall, and because the openings are at different distances from the wall, they do not line up.
The manual shows that this screw is supposed to hold the two parts together.
Otherwise, screw E will not catch in the opening of part B and will fall out if it is not firmly screwed into the opening of part A.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Leonid

I would first test-fit the pipe and the cover to see if everything would align properly when the air duct is placed against the wall and the slots match the wall bracket. If that works out, I would file two slots before bothering customer service.
If you have concerns about the warranty, then ask the (Whirlpool?) customer service in case no one here knows the solution.

Herr rossi21 Jul 2016 10:45Hi Leonid,
I know it might be a silly question, but is it possible to flip part B? I mean turning the whole box 180 degrees so that the "peg" points backward. In the instructions, it looks like part B has a recess that fits exactly onto the bracket.
Best regards, Herr rossi

Hello,
Thank you for the advice. Unfortunately, the cutout does not fit the bracket even remotely. It is also clearly shown in the instructions that the peg should point forward.
Good luck,
Leonid
HI Leonid,
I know it might be a silly question, but is it possible to turn part b around? I mean rotating the entire box 180 degrees so that the "peg" points backward. In the instructions, it looks like part b has a cutout that fits exactly onto the bracket.
Regards, Mr. Rossi
