Hello, I have a question.
I received several quotes from screeding contractors, all with the same setup:
In the attic:
30 mm (1.2 inches) insulation
30 mm (1.2 inches) impact sound insulation
and 50 mm (2 inches) flowable screed.

Now I got the invoice from the company I awarded the contract to, and it includes 10 mm (0.4 inches) screed topping (leveling layer) and 50 mm (2 inches) impact sound insulation. No thermal insulation was installed.

How should I proceed? I have already paid about 2/3 of the invoice.

Can I have the screed removed and redone? Is that necessary? I will probably have to heat more on the lower floor now.

Did you ask the screed installer what’s going on? I don’t want to speculate beforehand because a) there might be an error in the invoice, b) the company may acknowledge the mistake and fix it, c) you may have purchased the wrong materials, or d) the company is uncooperative and you might need to take legal action.

edit) Why have you already paid two-thirds?

1) I wouldn’t have paid so quickly if there were any uncertainties.
2) A professional needs to determine whether the construction is acceptable as is or if it’s poor workmanship. Possibly contact a competitor or an expert for advice.
3) Schütte = leveling compound?

The screed is a leveling compound. 1 qqm for about 100 m2 (1,080 sq ft) seems quite a lot to me.

I will have to call someone for clarification regarding the construction/setup.
Thanks, regards,
