Hi community,
I am renting a single-family house in Portugal (floor area about 100m2 (1,076 sq ft)), and since the roof is leaking, the landlord is currently installing a new one. He also asked if I would like to have windows installed. That might be useful, but I have some concerns because the roof is designed as a "sandwich." Between two rather thin metal sheets, there is a layer of insulation material.
My thought is that the outer layer of the roof will heat up significantly in summer, while the lower insulated layer will not. This means the roof will deform due to the temperature difference between day and night or summer and winter. That could mean that any windows placed where they meet the roof might become leaky quite quickly.
The roofer says there’s no problem, but I’m quite uncertain and would like to get more opinions. What do you think? I look forward to your answers.
Best regards from Portugal!
Raphael
