AnnesHaus5 Apr 2016 10:07Hello, we have a 1950s house. The roof has Meyer Holsen tiles, a local company known in our area for good-quality tiles. However, these were originally fixed with some kind of mortar that is now starting to crumble in places, and a few parts occasionally come loose and fall off the roof. We have already considered completely renewing the roof (including reinforcing the rafters), also from an energy efficiency and subsidy perspective. However, that would cost around 45,000 EUR. An alternative would be to replace the tiles and renew the gutters. The costs for that still need to be estimated.
Now my question is, is it possible to partially repair the crumbling roof, or is it not cost-effective because you would likely have to renovate again in 10, 20 years or so? The downspouts need to be replaced anyway, and at least the top floor ceiling should be insulated. Does anyone have experience with the costs for something like this? Many thanks in advance!
