Umbau337Hello everyone,
I am currently demolishing an old prefab house from 1970 and want to only do what is safe. While removing the wooden panels from the ceiling, I came across some crumbling plaster. To me, it looks suspiciously like asbestos. What is your opinion on this?
In addition, there are these panels installed, marked “Turnwald” and classified as fire-resistant according to DIN 4102.
Thank you very much in advance.

It seems to me that even among building owners there is a kind of "PISA generation." It is incredible how many people nowadays call anything that isn’t clearly marked or doesn’t look familiar as a construction hazard material “asbestos.” No, neither of the two pictures shows asbestos. The first image shows something with a sponge-like synthetic structure, probably a type of foam. The second image shows a polystyrene panel – I assume it’s a decorative plaster imitation from the front side – with a layer of tile adhesive stuck to it. Neither has anything to do with asbestos, nor does either even remotely resemble asbestos. Asbestos has a fibrous structure similar to particleboard or firelighters, and its fibers are cement-gray in color.
