ᐅ Renovating Underfloor Heating – Heating Water Analysis

Hello everyone,

We have purchased a 20-year-old house. Recently, I saw a report on TV stating that you cannot trust underfloor heating systems older than 20 years.

In particular, plastic pipes are said to be very susceptible to oxygen diffusion. I have heard of a company called LSE System. Has anyone here had any experience with this company?

The HAT method involves cleaning the pipes of the underfloor heating system and then coating them from the inside with a new layer, almost like a pipe within a pipe. However, this renovation costs CHF 25,000.

Are there more affordable alternatives? For example, just removing the sludge from the pipes? Or does this only postpone the problem?

If the pipes are damaged, is my only option to replace the pipes or to break up the entire floor? Or is it possible to shut down the underfloor heating and install low-temperature radiators as a cost- and effort-saving solution?

I had an analysis done. Here are the measured values:

Oxygen content: 2.03 mg/l (milligrams per liter)
Dissolved iron: 2.15 mg/l
pH value: 10.03
Conductivity: 170 µS/cm (microsiemens per centimeter)
Water hardness: 36° F (36 degrees French hardness)

The single-family house is 30 years old. Are these values so extreme that renovation is necessary? I should mention there is a small water loss, but the source cannot be found.

I cannot find anyone in the Burgdorf BE area who performs analyses. Do you know someone? Question: Can I simply take a sample of the heating water and send it to a suitable laboratory? By the way, how much does an analysis cost?

I had an analysis carried out. The water analysis results are as follows:
- Oxygen content = 0.59 mg/l
- Dissolved iron = 2.62 mg/l
- pH value = 10.83
- Conductivity = 114.90 µS/cm
- Total water hardness = 30.80 °f

Unfortunately, I only have a comparison with ideal values. What would be interesting for me is a comparison with other test results. From this, I could, for example, determine how my underfloor heating compares to other test results. Do my water values fall into the average range, or are they rather in the lowest or highest third?

I would be very interested in receiving many other test results. The more responses there are, the better a possible comparison will be—for those submitting their test results as well.

I have just had a water analysis done. The following values were measured: oxygen content of the water, dissolved iron in the water (rust particles), pH level of the water, conductivity, and total water hardness (the last two values are only measured for a possible remediation).

Hello everyone! I am interested in analysis and possible renovation of our underfloor/ceiling heating system. Are there any diagnostic methods for metal pipes that can assess the progression of sludge buildup, corrosion, etc.? Also, what are the options for internal rehabilitation of metal pipes? Thanks in advance for any feedback!
