We have planned underfloor heating for the house (ground floor and upper floor). The basement will be unheated. Currently, only three rooms are planned in the basement: a utility room, a storage room, and a relatively large room that has not yet been assigned a specific purpose.

My electrician suggested that I should ask the heating engineer to run a connection from the heating circuit manifold on the ground floor down to the basement. This could initially be capped off and shut off. If the large room is later used as a hobby room or similar and needs to be heated, a radiator could be connected to the pipes at that time.

Question: Does this make sense? Is it really that simple to do?

This is definitely feasible!
We will have a panel radiators with thermostatic valves installed in three rooms and the hallway in the basement. The ground floor and attic will also have underfloor heating. Heating will be provided by a brine-to-water heat pump, Stiebel Eltron WPF 10.

Hmm, okay. Maybe I should discuss this with the heating engineer as well.
