Hello everyone,
Since the additional cost for wood-effect foil coating on plastic windows is quite reasonable, we are reconsidering this option.
What experiences have you had with it? With the major window manufacturers like aluplast, Drutex, or Salamander, you generally shouldn’t go wrong. Drutex appears to be one of the more affordable options. They are from Poland, after all.
If I understand correctly, these windows are foil-coated, right? Is there any long-term experience available regarding the foil possibly peeling off at the edges after a few years? Or are the windows covered with one continuous foil rather than separate foil sections per panel, where grooves form at the edges and these ends might come loose over time?
Please share your experiences with plastic windows in wood decor.
Thank you!
PS: Is it possible to order foil samples like you can with tiles, or is it only possible to get a good impression of the texture and appearance during an in-person inspection?

@Tego12 gray is usually powder-coated or dyed, right?I'm no expert by any means, but as far as I know, plastic windows are usually just laminated (at least with all the homeowners I've talked to so far). To my knowledge, powder coating requires an aluminum shell, at least that's what I understand. For powder coating, you need some kind of conductive surface.
To my knowledge, the granulate used in gray or anthracite PVC windows is always white. I just checked with Gealan – a brand I usually recommend because they don’t use foil but instead “bake in” the color – and unfortunately, they do use foil for wood decor finishes. For powder coating, I can only imagine aluminum cladding shells being suitable. For wood decor, aluminum would also need to be foil-wrapped, but I don’t recall any customer requests for that, and the factory I’m familiar with operated for more than 40 years.

This is commonly used, for example, in aluminum facade applications.
