annab377Hello everyone,
Since the additional cost for wood-effect foil coating on plastic windows is quite reasonable, we are reconsidering this option.
What experiences have you had with it? With the major window manufacturers like aluplast, Drutex, or Salamander, you generally shouldn’t go wrong. Drutex appears to be one of the more affordable options. They are from Poland, after all.
If I understand correctly, these windows are foil-coated, right? Is there any long-term experience available regarding the foil possibly peeling off at the edges after a few years? Or are the windows covered with one continuous foil rather than separate foil sections per panel, where grooves form at the edges and these ends might come loose over time?
Please share your experiences with plastic windows in wood decor.
Thank you!
PS: Is it possible to order foil samples like you can with tiles, or is it only possible to get a good impression of the texture and appearance during an in-person inspection?

We chose this because we didn’t want wooden windows, but we love the look. We have an oak finish on the outside—no one can tell it’s not real wood. There are also films that look less realistic, but there is quite a wide selection available.
Our window supplier had samples on site to look at for everything. So far, we haven’t had any problems; everything is holding up as promised. Why wouldn’t it? Like the gray finish, it’s just a film coating, which usually lasts a lifetime.

So, your window supplier offered both lower-quality foil that looked less realistic, but also the one you chose, where you can’t see the difference to real wood. Cool. There was probably a small price difference between the lower-quality and the visually perfect foil, but nothing significant.
I roughly calculated an additional cost of 70-100 EUR per window compared to standard white PVC windows. That should be about right, or am I way off?
