Hello everyone,

I am currently considering which building material should be used to seal or insulate the base slab and the lower "plinth area" of the masonry.
Our construction is as follows, from bottom to top, and we have no basement:

- Strip footings
- Ground slab
- Waterproof membrane under the first layer of masonry
- Masonry made of calcium silicate blocks on top of the waterproof membrane
- On the exterior: bitumen primer and waterproof membrane applied from the middle of the ground slab up 60cm (24 inches) against rising damp

A 16cm (6 inch) external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS) is planned.

What is the best way to solve this? How did you handle it, and what are your experiences?
I am looking forward to helpful posts.

Good luck

What building experts want to say is that the majority of users do not browse through the subforums but only look at "new posts," even if you probably find that hard to believe.
