Hello,
since I am moving next week and need to act quickly (and also keep costs low), I am currently planning my first IKEA kitchen. Over the past few days, I have already found many helpful tips here in the forum, but now I have a few questions.
1. I deliberately did not start the kitchen run directly at the tall platform because otherwise you would walk straight into the cabinet when entering the door (even though the door opens outwards). I would extend the platform up to the first cabinet. Is that possible? It would look best if the kitchen were 98cm (39 inches) high, so the countertop could extend over the platform. Are there suitable feet or plinths for that?
2. The sink should be installed at a working height of 1.20m (47 inches) (I am 1.95m (6 ft 5 in) tall). Could I build a platform from chipboard? Are there 36cm (14 inch) high feet available at the kitchen store? Would the plinth then need to be custom built?
3. The left cabinet with the refrigerator should also be that tall. Can a built-in tall cabinet be shortened accordingly? Would a ventilation grille be needed in the back of the countertop? Alternatively, could I place the oven there and move the refrigerator to the right?
Sorry for the long text and many questions, but I would really appreciate any suggestions and tips.
Best regards,
Jürgen.

No, IKEA, I am not going to use another operating system for you!
As long as the countertop does not overhang significantly and require support, it is a matter of personal preference.
