Hello,
we actually have wall-to-wall carpet in the entire hallway because we find it warmer. However, this carpet wears out more along the walking paths than at the edges. We have now placed a runner-style carpet in the middle of the hallway. But it does not stay in place and keeps shifting. We tried fixing it with adhesive tape, but it now wrinkles because it still wants to move. Do you have any suggestions?
Best regards, Gerda

We have done this before as well. We laid a carpet on the wooden floorboards and then placed another carpet on top. Never again, because the bottom carpet started to develop a musty smell.
From that experience, it’s now clear that we should buy a new carpet and remove the old one. If it smells musty, then moisture must be getting in somehow. It doesn’t just happen on its own. Either some water or something similar spilled, and then this can occur.
