Hello everyone,

we are currently building a prefabricated house. In the bathroom, we will only tile part of the walls. We want to paint the remaining wall surfaces. Our prefab company says that a simple paint with abrasion resistance class 3 would be sufficient. However, we have heard from friends that this is definitely not enough.

Can anyone help us here? Which type of paint or material is best suited for bathroom walls? We have standard drywall (not moisture-resistant drywall) in the bathroom. Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards

We will also just paint for now, but we do have a ventilation system.

Regarding the drywall: with Weberhaus and Finger, neighbors or colleagues also had only standard drywall installed. That surprised me a bit, as I’m used to it being different. But they must have had their reasons (one would think). Both houses have a ventilation system.

Thank you very much for the many responses. We will probably choose the plaster option after all. A friend also recommended this to us. However, he planned to paint over the plaster with latex paint. I definitely don’t want latex paint in the bathroom. We absolutely want to avoid that.
