Hello everyone,

Our house construction is nearing completion, and now we need to plan the painting work.

All rooms, except the wet areas, have drywall plaster. The wet areas—guest toilet, bathroom, and utility room—have a lime-cement plaster.

We want this to be done professionally and have already had some contractors on site. Unfortunately, we got "three people, three opinions."

This raises the following questions for us:

- One says renovation fleece (reinforcing fleece) can be easily removed after a few years, while another says it cannot be removed from the wall. What is true in this case?

- One says fleece is crack-bridging in new constructions, while another says fleece can worsen the appearance in the event of settling because it may wrinkle. What is true here?

- Would you use renovation fleece with a properly applied drywall plaster, or would you (after fine smoothing) paint the plaster directly?

Thank you very much for your feedback.

Using fleece is better because any cracks remain invisible. Probably. With fleece, the surface also becomes smoother.
Without it is cheaper. We went without and have been lucky so far with no cracks, but our house was fairly dry when we moved in.

I would apply a 120g fiber fleece. It covers shrinkage cracks and minor settlement cracks. It can also be easily removed again.
