CrazyChris12 Dec 2019 12:10Hello everyone, I am currently considering the installation location for our air-to-water heat pump as a split system.
According to the current plan, the outdoor unit is positioned in front of the house facing west toward the street. Unfortunately, this means the unit is constantly exposed to wind and weather. Our local climate is cold and very windy. On the plus side, no neighbors seem to be disturbed.
An alternative option would be to place the outdoor unit on the east side, in the corner between the house and the garage. This location would offer better protection from the weather and a significantly shorter distance to the indoor unit. The issue is that it would be approximately 3.5 meters (11.5 feet) away from the currently undeveloped neighboring property, whose owner might potentially build up to 3 meters (10 feet) close to our property line. This would leave the outdoor unit just over 6 meters (20 feet) from their building, raising concerns about noise sensitivity. Due to the corner position, I also suspect there might be stronger noise emissions.
The garage roof is not an option.
Attached is a rough sketch.
I would appreciate any opinions or suggestions.
