sabri84@gmx.de17 Apr 2012 22:10Good evening,
after the carpenter came today to install my newly purchased Ikea kitchen, we noticed a significant color difference between the two solid wood countertops in beech (we have checked the article numbers). The 126 cm (50 inch) countertop is almost as light as a birch countertop 😕
Please see the attachment!
Is this an acceptable standard from Ikea? Is there any way to make the countertops match?
Unfortunately, an exchange is probably no longer possible due to the customization...

My first thought when looking at the picture was also that you got one panel in birch and one in beech...! Could it be that one panel was already pre-cut and the other one untreated? Was one panel already unpacked and the other not? Those would be my only explanations.
Nevertheless, I wouldn’t just leave it like that – take this photo to the customer service at your IKEA and clarify the issue. Maybe they are willing to work with you?

sabri84@gmx.de17 Apr 2012 22:58Thanks for the quick feedback!
I received both boards packaged by the pickup service and, of course, didn’t check inside the boxes on site.
I’ve just sent an email to Ikea customer service as well.
Unfortunately, everything has already been installed by the carpenter using special panel connectors, as I couldn’t tolerate this temporary setup any longer...
I’ll wait for the official response and, if necessary, plan an additional trip to Ikea customer pickup.
I just double-checked the receipt, and the correct item numbers are definitely listed – even if I receive a new board, I need to make sure that the additional costs incurred are also covered.

IKEA-Profi17 Apr 2012 23:18I also don’t think you bought the wrong item. I rather suspect that something went wrong between the factory and your purchase. In my opinion, this is definitely not a NUMERÄR beech panel...

sabri84@gmx.de17 Apr 2012 23:23Good, because such issues are really frustrating considering the expenses involved in a complete kitchen, and I haven’t experienced such variations with Ikea wood before.
Good that you see it the same way
At least I don’t have to doubt myself..
