Hello everyone,
I have an Ikea Kallax shelf unit at home standing on a laminate floor. Unfortunately, the shelf shifts even with slight contact or when pulling something out of one of the boxes. This is quite annoying because it causes the unit to become unlevel, and I’m worried it might get damaged or even tip over eventually.
I am therefore considering using anti-slip mats beneath the Kallax unit. My question to the community is:
Is it advisable to place special anti-slip mats under the Kallax shelf on a laminate floor to prevent sliding? Have you had any experience with this, and are there specific materials or products that work particularly well?
Any tips on possible alternatives or additional measures to ensure stable footing are also welcome. Thanks in advance!

When buying mats, make sure they don’t stick together or leave residue on the floor over time. Thanks for the tip, I’ll keep that in mind.
Does anyone have specific product recommendations? I’m especially interested in whether you prefer models with or without adhesive and if you have experience with long-term use.

Standard rubber anti-slip mats, whether self-adhesive or loose-laid, provide enough friction without damaging the floor.I’m currently leaning towards loose-laid mats because I like the option to move the shelf if needed. Does that work well in practice, or do they still tend to slip?
