ᐅ Mirror shaft – any alternatives?

Hello,

For various reasons, my office is going into the basement (existing, renovation), where I have a separate entrance and some peace and quiet. Since I spend a lot of time (actually most of it) working from home and therefore in this room, it would be nice to bring in a bit more natural light.

The plan is to expand the two small existing basement windows into a large light well, facing almost exactly south, towards the garden. We have now come across the light well system (you can find it via Google), which looks very sensible. If it works as intended, it would greatly improve the room.

Now the question: Does anyone know this system, have experience with it in real life, or perhaps know of alternatives? The price based on an inquiry is about 12,000 EUR, which isn’t cheap but would be worth it to me. So cost is not the issue — maybe there are even better systems that I simply haven’t found?

Thanks in advance for your support!

Best regards

Oh God, building it myself is really not a good idea for me.

I think, for 12,000, I could actually get a fully functional room (if it works that way...), in my opinion there are investments with a much worse cost-benefit ratio. The basement is otherwise great, but without natural light; otherwise, nothing is missing there.

But, as you said, mirrors are not exactly a new invention. So I’m surprised there isn’t anything similar available.
