Hello, I recently acquired a large plot of land (2500sqm (26910 sq ft)) that hasn’t been maintained for years. A hoarder used to live there, so there’s a lot of rubbish, a small old house, and plenty of wood. Now, grass and shrubs have grown wildly and are several meters high. I started clearing a small area by digging out the plants including their roots because I began building a wooden shelter. But when I think about doing this across the entire area... does anyone have a better idea?

Best regards, Ronny

On my small plot of land, 350m² (approximately 3,765 square feet), the excavator handled that during the excavation in about 0.5 to 1 hour. Otherwise, if available, a farmer with a plow or a flock of sheep.

Hello!

The fun of digging and shoveling quickly disappears.

My tip: If you see an excavator working somewhere nearby, approach the operator right away (the operator, not the excavator).

This way, we were able to spread our excavation soil in the garden quite cheaply (3% of the usual quoted price!!).

Everything else is more tiring and a pointless waste of time.

I have two field paths on the left and right sides of my property, which apparently belong to the municipality. However, at the back corner of my property, there is an "old driveway" that I actually need to access. Unfortunately, I can't get in because there is a large lilac bush in the middle of the path, about 5 meters by 3 meters (16 feet by 10 feet) in size. Am I allowed to simply remove it, or do I need to ask someone? One neighbor said I can remove it from his side. The local authority told me that the driveway is protected as an existing feature, so I don’t have to maintain it.

Hello!

That’s a good one. An "old access road" is not the same as a right of way!

Otherwise, the legal situation should be clear to you—just imagine if a neighbor drove recklessly through your property!

I think the best solution would be to rent an excavator, as doing it by hand would take months or so!
